Abid Zaidi

Senior Research Analyst, Middle East Watch, London Politica

Abid Zaidi is a Senior Analyst at London Politica’s Middle East Watch. He is currently a candidate for a Masters in Modern Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Oxford, and holds a First Class Degree with Honours in Political Science and Economics from the London School of Economics (LSE).

His research interests largely lie in the domestic politics, intraregional affairs, and political economy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Iraqi domestic political affairs, and the political economy of the Gulf. He thematically specialises in religious politics, particularly that of contentious transnational Shi’i political activity in the Middle East.

Prior to joining London Politica, Abid held roles at several prominent student academic journals, including the LSE Undergraduate Political Review and the Oxford Middle East Review. Alongside experience studying the Middle East, Abid holds native proficiency in Urdu and English, and is currently studying Farsi and Arabic to professional proficiency.
