Africa has been largely overlooked in the arena of international affairs despite its significant multisectoral impacts across the globe. The continent continues to grapple with political instability, humanitarian crises, and conflict, all of which are increasingly exacerbated by climate change-driven changes. Yet it also is emerging as a fulcrum for economic growth courtesy of its diverse and growing population, and richness of resources and intellectual wealth. These however have also made 21st-century Africa a draw for foreign involvement, be it from states like Russia, China, or “the West”; who join regional and local actors in an increasingly complex web of diplomatic, economic, military, and security links, all vying to best position themselves in the ongoing competition. This situation is only set to become more complex as competition grows and the century progresses.
Our analysts aim to provide specialised research and intelligence to keep on top of a rapidly changing Africa; tackling development, security, politics, human rights, and more. We integrate Africa’s central role into the wider, global, analytical picture.
Our Services
-
We provide a wide range of consulting services aimed at providing key insights on risks for companies and organisations operating on the African continent, alongside recommendations to mitigate those risks. We have experience providing analysis on governance, conflict, corruption, markets, terrorism, climate, and more.
-
The Africa team has extensive experience collecting information via open sources (SOCMINT, OSINT, GEOINT, & HUMINT) and utilising intelligence analysis techniques to provide stakeholders in Africa with precise, tailored, and timely insights on security risks.
-
We carry out research to ensure that our clients are well-informed on their partners on the continent and are able to mitigate risk related to specific contracts and partnerships. We also carry out investigations for organisations that aim to uphold human rights standards and expose human rights violations.
