Lasma Kokina

Senior Research Analyst, Europe Watch, London Politica

Lāsma is an analyst experienced in producing political risk analysis reports and articles. At her time at London Politica, she has worked on producing both public reports and advising NGOs on various issues. She has also taught at the European Consortium for Political Research and the University of Glasgow, where she gained significant experience in teaching both quantitative and qualitative research methods. Additionally, as a Lecturer at the University of Essex, she designed and taught a number of political science modules, including Quantitative Political Analysis, Politics and Economic Policies, and Political Behavior.

Her primary research interests center around Russian politics, the US-Russia relationship, and the political security developments in Europe. She has extensive experience studying Russian politics and is fluent in Russian. In 2022, she successfully defended her PhD thesis on the New Cold War. She has also gained an MA in Politics, Security and Integration from UCL School of Slavonic and East European Studies, an MRes in Politics, and an MSc in International Development from the University of Edinburgh.
