2022: the deadliest year for Mexican journalists and media workers


2022 was the most lethal year for the Mexican press in the last three decades. Mexico is the most dangerous country to work as a journalist in Latin America as it accounted for half of the 30 deaths in the region in 2022. This report looks at 15 cases of killings of journalists committed last year, from José Luis Gamboa, in Veracruz, on January 10, 2022, to Fredid Román, in Chilpancingo, on August 22, 2022.
