In the Crossfire: The Impact of FARC Dissident Groups on Indigenous Territories in Colombia
Indigenous communities in Colombia are continuously threatened by FARC dissident groups, especially in areas like Cauca. Despite the 2016 peace agreement, these groups have rearmed and turned to illegal activities, which has increased violence, violated human rights, and reduced Indigenous autonomy. Threats to the lives of Indigenous leaders and the volunteer Indigenous Guard are constant as they resist the encroachment of these groups on their lands. The ongoing violence and the involvement of FARC dissidents in illegal activities mean that the risk to these communities remains high.
