Marina Tovar

Director of Intelligence, Intelligence Desk, London Politica

Marina Tovar is an International Relations Graduate and currently studies a two-year Joint Master’s Degree in Security, Intelligence, and Strategic Studies at the University of Glasgow. She specializes in terrorism, intelligence, and peacebuilding. Marina has worked at London Politica since September 2021 and is the co-director of London Politica’s Intelligence Desk. At London Politica, she has worked for the Red Cross, UNWFP, Kerskale Commission, Nostos Homes, and the International Chamber of Commerce producing political risk reports and due diligence investigations. Furthermore, oversees the Wagner Operations Watch (2023), reporting on developments in the Wagner Group and its operations in Africa, Ukraine, and Syria.

Marina is a former Team Lead on Cyber and Counterintelligence at a US-based security consultancy and has interned at the UN Operations and Crisis Centre in crisis monitoring and UN peacekeeping. Her research interests and expertise lie in the intersection between terrorism and intelligence, radicalization processes, and ransomware attacks. Marina has published several papers in peer-reviewed journals on human security and jihadi-Salafism radicalization and will publish a chapter on ransomware attacks in the COVID-19 context.
