Green Hydrogen in the Gulf - Opportunities and Challenges

In the context of Saudi Arabia's recent statements about collaborating with Italy, green hydrogen is seen as a promising low-carbon energy solution for the future.

It is produced through electrolysis, an energy-intensive process that separates water into hydrogen and oxygen molecules.

Gulf states, in particular, are key players in green hydrogen production and export due to their strong potential for generating low-cost solar energy.

Nonetheless, transportation infrastructure and high-levels on investment represent challenges, and an abundance of non-renewables does not incentivize green hydrogen in the short term.
